What?! Me joining a sorority? Thats freakin unheard of.
On the real, its different than your average.
Im not sayin that like im hatin on other sororities.
Its not like the sororities in the movies is what im tryna say.
Its a filipina based sorority based on culture, academics, community, and sisterhood. I might have gotten one of the corners wrong, but mybad.
I had my interview today, not bad at all.
I received my bid, my invitation to join the sisterhood and to determine if i wanna accept the invitation to pledge.
Overall, im happy with this choice that im making and wouldnt change it for anything.
P.S. Im glad my homegirls are joining it w/ me (=

A New Beginning.
Its somewhat hard to believe that im in college, maybe because I can remember back in the day when I was in elementary school kicken it with all my cousins. Now all my cousins live in Torrance, Elk Grove, SJ, or Stockton &I only get to see them once or twice a year if im lucky. Its all hitting me slowly, that I have to face the reality that I have to figure out what I wanna be when I grow up as in I need to choose the path I want to follow for the rest of my life. How am I supposed to know what I want to do for the rest of my life when im only eighteen? At first I wanted to major in art or apparel design; now im leaning towards Asian American Studies or Philippine Studies OR maybe psychology. Lets see if that changes within the next few weeks. There are so many options, its just a matter of me experiencing things and figuring it all out on my own. And the transition from high school to college? Don’t even get me started. While I was in high school I couldn’t wait to graduate and move out of my house. Now I kinda still wish I was in HS cuz it was easier in the sense that they sheltered us and I got special privileges because my dad worked there. But the hardest part for me was moving out of my parents house since im so close to my family. Im the oldest of two, so for my parents letting me go was probably one of the hardest things they’ve encountered besides watching me graduate high school. At my high school graduation, it didn’t hit me that I was about to take on a whole other lifestyle and face reality. At my high school graduation, I didn’t really care that I was leaving and I was chillen there next to Shelby eating my water taffy candy lei and sharing it with my former classmates. Its funny how its all just hitting me now. During senior year and the beginning of summer I was hella ready to leave. Now its all a trip that I moved out and don’t see my family everyday like I used to. I was just so used to having them around all the time and turning to them anytime I stumbled upon a challenge, but now I have to face the world on my own. My parents will support me, but they cant always be there like they used to, its time for me to face these challenges on my own.
On a good note, my apartment is hella nice. I didn’t get housing on campus because I turned in my application too late because I was still considering USF. I did not go to USF due to the fact that tuition is about 50,000; not that my parents weren’t willing to send me there, but im pretty much still undeclared and I didn’t want them to send me there still unsure of what I wanted to do with my life. Either way, I am glad I chose to go to SFSU, I love it there; the school, atmosphere, the people. I already met hella cool people and sht, they know who they are LOL. My classes are cool, I love my schedule. Im thinking of joining a sorority, NO not like the ones in the movies or I definitely wouldn’t be considering it. Because of these ladies, im slowly starting to figure myself out and they are already there for all of us even though we met a week and a half ago, they already got us feelin like were a part of their sisterhood.
And my parents anniversary is this weekend. Its their 18th wedding anniversary if theyre only counting when they got married in the church, but idk how long its been since they had a civil wedding. So I think ima be back in SJ next weekend for Saturday at least. My lolo’s 75th birthday is October3rd I believe. Our whole family is gonna be there, im excited..little family reunion. My lolo’s sick right now, I worry about him because of his health, but then again it seems like hes sick a lot which definitely isn’t good. It seems as though hes only healthy when hes in the Philippines. All bad things aside, everything should be okay.
Life is a beautiful struggle and you get in touch with your innerself throughout the whole process.
